A Silverback Gorilla and the Bamboo Plantation

A New Home for Gorillas

A silverback gorilla stands proud in Volcanoes National Park Quint is surveying a fresh bamboo hectare. As it turns out, this bamboo garden is part of a new Lefty initiative. We want to save the gorillas and their environment. Having more bamboo means, that there is going to be a better food for the gorillas and they can have a nice home.

Why Bamboo?

Gorillas love bamboo, but it is not a typical food. They love to eat it. Growing bamboo produces a lot of food in short time. That will make more food for the silverback and his family when they emerge from the woods. That is a win for all the gorillas in that area. With bamboo, we can support them with a lot at least by planting more.

The Forest and Eucalyptus

Food is frequently found outside the forest by gorillas. Eucalyptus is one of their favorite foods. They relish in the leaves and branches of this tree. But eucalyptus is not always easy to find. At times, the gorillas dont have enough to eat. These things can be hard for them to exist.

By planting bamboo, we can help the gorillas have more options. When they come out of the forest, they will find not only eucalyptus but also plenty of bamboo to enjoy. This will help keep them from wandering too far and losing their way.

A Step for Conservation

The bamboo plantation is one piece of a broader strategy to save the gorillas. These incredible animals are fought for by manpower and government. Through a sustainable conservation effort, the gorillas stay safe and their natural beauty remains ready for exploration. In order to ensure that such majestic creatures remain with us for years, it is important to preserve the environment.

The most hopefull fact ever …finally a silverback gorilla watching the bamboo plantation. In their forest home, they can enjoy these new food sources and be protected. Our planting of bamboo is a first step to make their future brighter.
