What is an Aye-Aye?
The Aye-aye is a lemur, which means that it’s not only one of the weirdest creatures ever discovered but also a primate. It´s small and only has one long, thin finger that looks different from other animals. This primate has large eyes to aid in seeing at night (it is primarily nocturnal). It is covered in brown, shaggy fur that looks like a rat who has just woken up.
Why Do People Find It Spooky?

A Special Way to Eat for the Aye-Aye
However, where the aye-aye really stands apart is in its method of scavenging for food. It taps trees with its long finger. It taps in this way to find insects living within the wood. When it hears noise indicating there is food within, extracts insects with its finger from inside the trunk of a tree. This behavior is known as “percussive foraging”.
