The Hedgehogs’ Story

When the most adorable family found 8 baby hedgehogs wandering around their yard one sunny afternoon. All Alone: The little chicks’ mother was hurt, so there was no one to take care of the new baby birds. His family knew they had to act. They brought the baby hedgehogs in and started to feed them. They attempted to nourish and shelter them. However, they quickly discovered the need to provide more constant care for kittens.

Whiskers Steps In

That is until Whiskers, the lovable house cat of the family…. Whiskers has always been gentle and of course loved to cuddle up. Her mother instinct immediately kicked in when she saw the itty bitty hedgehogs, whiskers changing her approach to them, taking a delicate sniff. Settler rubbed her enormous habit on them, licked at their dirty faces and lesions.

It was knowing that the hedgehogs felt safe here. They were her own kittens, to Whiskers anyway. She kept them warm, lying next to them providing comfort and a little bit of security. The relationship between the cat and the hedgehogs was amazingly endearing to witness.

A New Family

Under Whiskers’ care, the newborn baby hedgehogs slowly but steadily began to flourish. They were able to play more and be active. They also had some help from the family taking care of them, mainly feeding and keeping in healthy condition. Altogether, this oddball family made up a happy and loving household.

The world is a hard place to be and Whiskers reminds us all of the kindness still in it.
